The Walk of Fame has continued to honor significant participants in the entertainment industry into the twenty-first century. Among those recognized are Emma Thompson, Bill Maher, Antonio Banderas, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Penelope Cruz, to name a few. The Walk also serves as a de facto memorial site for fans to pay their respects to artists who have passed away.
