One of the most famous hotels in Hollywood is the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.  Built in 1927, by C.E. Toberman, this popular hotel has been host to countless celebrities and dignitaries.  The first Academy Awards were presented on May 16, 1929, at a private brunch in the Blossom Room at the Hollywood ‘Roosevelt Hotel with an audience of about 270 people. The post Academy Awards party was held at the Mayfair Hotel.[3] The cost of guest tickets for that night's ceremony was $5. Fifteen statuettes were awarded, honoring artists, directors and other personalities of the film making industry of the time for their works during the 1927–1928 period. A photo of this event can be seen at hollywoodphotographs.com.

Another great Hollywood landmark was the Pan Pacific Auditorium. For over 35 years it was the premiere location for indoor public events in Los Angeles. Function like the Ice Capades and the annual Auto Show were very popular with the residents of Los Angeles. The facility was closed in 1972, beginning 17 years of steady neglect and decay. In 1978 the Pan-Pacific Auditorium was included in the National Register of Historic Places. but 11 years later the sprawling wooden structure was destroyed in a spectacular fire.

Hollywoodphotographs.com has one of the largest collection of movie studios.  Film factories like Universal Studios, Famous Players Lasky and Christie Studios are just three of the scores of studios that called Hollywood home.  There are more than 1500 pictures of movie studios on the web site.
